Each week, EWC will be gathering horological industry news, cultural conversations and moments surrounding our favorite topic: timepieces. Happy Friday; here’s what’s on our watch.
And the Award Goes To….

It might be safe to say the Emmys proved to have the strongest wrist game of any red carpet this year. We spotted so many killer watches, we lost count, but here are a few highlights. Let’s start with the host, Nate Bargatze who wore quite possibly one of the most gorgeous watches of the night: a Breguet Classique Souscription, the model that kicked off the Maison’s 250th anniversary celebration.

Unsurprisingly, Omega dominated the red carpet with a slew of actors and actresses wearing models across the catalog, from Colman Domingo in a two-tone Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional 42mm to Cristin Milioti in a Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M.

The next is a bit near and dear to my heart. I’m a child of the 90s, and I’m not ashamed to admit Noah Wyle was an early crush for his character on ER. So, I was pretty thrilled to see him reprise a similar role on HBO’s The Pitt, and it looks like I wasn’t alone. The actor took home an Emmy wearing a Cartier Tank Americaine.

Honorable mentions also go to Brett Goldstein who sported a Hublot Classic Fusion Titanium 38mm, Brian Tyree Henry who opted for a sleek Jaeger Le-Coultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph in 18k pink gold on a black alligator leather strap, and Walton Goggins who kept it classy in a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin 41.5mm in pink gold.
A Gala-Worthy Unveiling

Speaking of Vacheron, it was a huge week for the Maison with two exceptional introductions to its expansive catalog. Revealed over the course of exclusive events across Paris and Geneva, culminating in a swanky black-tie gala, Vacheon continued its monumental 270th anniversary celebration with La Quete du Temps, an astronomical clock that combines a timekeeping instrument, the traditions of Haute Horlogerie, artistic craftsmanship, and the kinetics of an automaton alongside the Metiers d'Art – Tribute to the Quest of Time watch.
Cheers to a New Exhibition

Bulgari also made an exciting announcement this week. At The National Art Center in Tokyo, the Maison inaugurated its largest exhibition to ever hit Japan. Bvlgari Kaleidos: Colors, Cultures, and Crafts brings together nearly 350 chromatic masterpieces, celebrating the vibrant cultural dialogue between Italy and Japan.
Make Way for Forward Thinking
After leaving his position as CEO at Audemars Piguet in 2023, François-Henri Bennahmias is back with his next venture. The watch industry veteran has just announced an ethical luxury watch and collectibles incubator called The Honorable Merchants Group, which will span across luxury industries including watches, jewelry, fashion, and more with the mission that profit must align with purpose.
Rolling Back the Red Carpet

We end by rolling back the red carpet for the latest impact of the 39% tariffs imposed on exports from Switzerland. Patek Philippe announced a price increase that went into effect this week. In addition, Swatch Group confirms its price increase will take effect October 1 while Richemont Group has also responded to the tariffs with a price increase, but the exact details are still unclear. To end things on a lighter note, Swatch also decided to add some comic relief to the tariff situation with a special edition watch featuring the 3 and 9 hour markers reversed to read “39” and a percent symbol on the caseback.
