Each week, EWC will be gathering horological industry news, cultural conversations and moments surrounding our favorite topic: timepieces. Happy Friday; here’s what’s on our watch.
The “Superfine” Watches of the Met Gala

The watches on display at this year’s Met Gala represent the level of wrist game I would love to see on every red carpet. For “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” this year’s theme, the timepieces weren’t an afterthought — they were the icing on the cake. From models that gave a subtle (or not so subtle) nod to an actor’s character like Tramell Tillman’s Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon to fresh-off-of-Watches-and-Wonders models like Walton Goggins’ Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Complete Calendar Openface and Henry Golding’s Cartier Tank a Guichets Jump Hour, the choices were thoughtful and on-theme.
Spring Surprise
Despite some of the President’s tariff’s already in place, watch manufacturers debuted plentiful new releases this week.

Tudor continues their playfulness with color, this time ever so subtly with the Limited Edition Pelagos FXD Chrono Pink. This blacked out model with touches of pink on the dial and strap celebrates the Maglia Rosa, or “pink jersey,” a symbol of victory for the winner of the Giro d’Italia. Tudor serves as the Official Timekeeper of the Italian bike race, and the Tudor Pro Cycling Team competes. The new model commemorates this partnership and deepens the brand’s ties with the sport.

H. Moser & Cie. unveiled the latest version of its popular Streamliner, but this is no ordinary edition. This time, we get a skeletonized build with a tourbillon center stage. The dial is framed by a rainbow gem-set bezel made of 60 baguette-cut colored sapphires. Altogether, the Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton Rainbow is the perfect balance of form and function.

For the ladies, Blancpain has revealed its newest Ladybird line with the Royal Purple Capsule Collection. While H. Moser & Cie.’s rainbow Streamliner offers a beautiful example of gem setting, Blancpain leans even further into the realm of jewelry with a decoration of over two carats of diamonds coupled with a nacre perlee dial, a rare form of mother-of-pearl.

On the flipside, Ulysse Nardin gives us an ultra-utilitarian diver for a cause. The Limited Edition Diver Hammerhead Shark harnesses the brand’s history of marine chronometers for ultimate precision, but the model is more than a diving tool. Ulysse Nardin has pledged that one percent of annual sales of the diver will be donated to 1% for the Planet.

Last but not least, Hublot has reinvented its MP-10 tourbillon with two new case styles. Originally made from titanium, the model is now offered in black ceramic and sapphire — two materials that are quintessentially Hublot.
Richard Mille Does Dallas

Richard Mille has doubled down on its U.S. presence. The brand celebrated the grand opening of its largest boutique in the country right in the heart of the Highland Park Village in Dallas. The two-story showroom marks the Maison’s ninth store in the States and the first to debut its new retail design concept in the Americas.
25 in 25 for GPHG

Adding to the smattering of watch anniversaries and celebrations, GPHG or the Academy Awards of watchmaking, is celebrating its 25th this year. Entries opened this week. What this means for brands: they are invited to enter timepieces proposed by the Academy or submit other models of their choice across the 15 categories – Ladies’, Ladies’ Complication, Time Only, Men’s, Men’s Complication, Iconic, Tourbillon, Calendar and Astronomy, Mechanical Exception, Chronograph, Sports, Jewellery, Artistic Crafts, “Petite Aiguille”, and Challenge. The GPHG Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 13 at the Batiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva.
Dubai Ups Geneva’s Ante

If you thought Watches & Wonders Geneva was big with 60 brands, let’s add another 30 and you’ll have the 2025 edition of Dubai Watch Week. From the 19th – 23rd November, Dubai Watch Week announced that 90 brands will participate including anchors like Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Van Cleef & Arpels, Chopard, Breitling, Girard-Perregaux, and TAG Heuer. To accommodate the expansion of the event, the organization also announced the location of a new venue in the heart of Dubai that will span over 200,000 square feet.
